Last weekend Mr. Wonderful and I were in Vegas and had an awesome getaway! This is how our weekend came about, my boss gave me a very nice Christmas bonus and we just held onto the $$ as we needed to decide what to do with it. Then Mr. Wonderful received a letter in the mail with a special hotel rate at the Wynn or Encore, with breakfast or lunch for 2 and show tickets. I thought it was a scam at first and then after calling the number and speaking to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. So, we made plans for Lauren to go to a friends house for the weekend and Sidney went to the doggy hotel. So we used my Christmas bonus on this gorgeous hotel room and had such a great weekend together, just the two of us!
We booked our stay at the Encore and I will admit that this hotel sure spoils you and their service is top notch, exactly what you would expect from a 5 stay hotel!
Here is our room on the 35 floor.
Both of us have not been downtown (Fremont Street) in many years, so we headed there Friday night and what a circus that was! But is all about the experience and if you haven’t seen it, it is a must do when you visit.
After this crazy experience, we headed back to the hotel and walked over to the Palazzo Hotel and ate dinner at Grimaldi’s. This place started in Brooklyn, NY over 100 years ago. They cook their pizza’s in a coal-fired brick oven. The atmosphere is fantastic with Frank Sinatra crooning in the background and the awesome hanging lights. We ordered a small Caesar Salad and a small Margherita pizza. OMG!!! Talk about the freshest ingredients, especially the basil on the pizza! Out of this world! The pizza sauce was a little sweet and what I later learned is a “secret recipe” pizza sauce, they also make their own mozzarella cheese and dough! The only drinking I did this past weekend was here and I had two glasses of Pinot Grigio Bella Sera Veneto, Italy! OMG! Again, just awesome! To end the night we got one of their seasonal cheesecakes to go. Mr. Wonderful choose the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake and we ate it in bed! That was very fun as we never eat anywhere but in the kitchen/dining room.
The hotel had their Chinese New Year decorations still up and it was breathtaking with all of the lights and fresh flowers!
When you walk from the Encore to Wynn there is so much detail in their design and they have these paintings that are very small mosaic tiles that make these floral pictures, simply gorgeous! Then a famous artist has metal displays of artwork that were guarded. The picture below was my favorite sculpture as it is entitled, Tulips (which happens to be my favorite flower)!
Here are some miscellaneous pictures from the show that we saw (Le Reve The Dream). This show is set in an intimate aqua round-theater featuring aerial acrobatics, provocative choreography and artistic athleticism. I have seen many shows in Vegas but none quite like this with water, just amazing! This was a show that both of us really enjoyed!
Hope you have a great weekend! Cheers!
