Hi everyone! Just a quick update on what has been happening here at the Miller house. Lauren is just like Mr. Wonderful in the fact that when they start to feel better they stop taking their medicine (and don’t finish the round of meds) and stay up late, etc. So the evening of Father’s Day, Lauren shows me her foot and there is a rash, I didn’t think anything of it and just told her to take a Benadryl for the itching. I leave for work on Monday morning and by 8:30 am Lauren is sending me texts with photos of her rash, it has spread to entire body. So I quickly call the pediatrician and they can see her in the afternoon. I finish up the work I was doing and leave work early, thank goodness I have a understanding boss.
Fast forward, the pediatrician took one look at Lauren and said she receives the “rash the month award”! Lauren had a negative test result for strep and it is now suspected that she had mono! So the rash she got was a mono rash and she might have had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics that were given to her for strep. I have never know anyone to have mono before and I questioned her if she was kissing any boys or sharing a drink/straw with someone. Yuck!!!
That being said, she is finally better and can finally enjoy her summer break. She has been watching and going to movies with friends, hanging out at the pool and going to the beach. As for me, last Sunday was the first time I was back in my craft room creating and it felt good. We are waiting on our contractor/handyman to give us a start date for the paint, etc. so in the meantime I have been cleaning out my craft room and reorganizing. I am not ready to share what I have done but as soon as the paint and carpet are in, I will reveal what I have done.
Lastly, I am taking Monday off for the 4th of July holiday. It is important not to forget the true meaning of the day and what it means for our amazing country and the freedom we are afforded here in America. So many take the freedom and liberty they are granted here in the United States of America for granted and forget the true meaning of the day. We may dress up in our nation’s colors of red, white and blue, but do we know what the true meaning behind our flag is? The 4th of July is a time to commemorate America’s declaration of separation from Great Britain that was made on July 4, 1776. Our freedom and our democracy that we have been blessed with is a direct product of the sheer determination from our forefathers who worked to establish the United States of America as a free country. I will leave you with this quote. “No other date on the calendar more potently symbolizes all that our nation stands for than the Fourth of July.”~ Mac Thornberry
God bless America!
