Have you ever looked at a magazine and something just jumped out at you? Well this happened to me when I was looking at the Annual Catalog for the first time and this stamp set is very appealing to the eye! I love the adorable topiary trees and the vertical sentiments. I used the Thumping Technique, or as I like to refer to it as the “spanking technique”! Very simple to do actually. First you ink up your stamp with a lighter color ink pad, then take a darker colored marker and start tapping or “thumping” on the image to add darker spots. Continue to “thump” the marker on the image until you added enough spots to create a marbled look. Huff (breathe heavily) on the stamp to re-moisten the inked image. Final step is to stamp on the cardstock. How simple is that.
*TIP: Tap with the side of the marker to protect the tip of the marker from damage.
For the topiary tree, I used Pear Pizzazz as the base color and then took markers (Melon Mambo, Old Olive and Early Espresso) to either color in the container/trunk/branches and thump. I also punched out small hearts with the Confetti Hearts Border Punch and adhered them with the Fin-Tip Glue Pen. I love how it turned out!
