Recently Sidney went in for surgery to remove what we thought was two tumors that were cancerous.  Not sure if it is a scam, but when animals go in for surgery they always push for the dental cleaning.  Thank goodness we opted to have her teeth cleaned because when they were doing her dental x-rays and cleaning, they discovered a small (5mm) tumor in her mouth, near a tooth that needed to be extracted.  Poor baby was so out of it for the first few days and she had to eat soft foods for the first 2 weeks, that meant no more dry kibble or treats!  If you know beagles, they are very impatient when it comes to their food!  I ended up cooking her boiled chicken breasts, rice and carrots for her breakfast and dinner.  For a treat I would give her a soft Beggin’ Strip in pieces.

Here is Sidney resting at home the first night shortly after I brought her home from the vet.

With graduations upon us now, I wanted to share with you a super easy gift card holder that I made for my nephew Jake!  I also made one last year for my daughter’s BFF’s sister, click here.

Here are the measurements and a quick instruction:

  • cardstock (base): 7- 3/4″ x 5″ and score at 2-1/2″ and 6″
  • cardstock (inside stamped piece): 2-1/4″ x 4-3/4″
  • cardstock (belly band): 1″ x 7-3/4″
  • DSP (top): 2- 1/4″ x 4-3/4″
  • DSP (bottom): 1-1/2″ x 4-3/4″

Just adhere the sides of the small flap with Tear & Tape (placed on the very edge) so it will hold money or a gift card.  Wrap the belly band around the holder and adhere closed with a piece (or two) of Tear & Tape.  I used various sizes of the Layering Squares Framelits Dies to hide the end pieces.  It comes together in a matter of minutes.  Enjoy!

In case you are wondering where the graduation hat came from, I used the March 2016 Pocketful of Cheer Paper Pumpkin kit.  I love receiving the kits monthly and continue to use the stamps in other projects that arrive.  It is like a gift that keeps on giving!  Why not sign up for your own monthly subscription?  Click here to find out more or to sign up.

Gift Card Holder

Since graduations are upon us, they are the go-to gift for the recent grad, right?  Here I created a fun gift card holder using the Merry Moments DSP.  This DSP can be used for anything, not just Christmas!  With the flat end of the bag, insert it into your Stampin’ Trimmer and score at 3″.  Then cut a piece of DSP to measure 10-1/2″ x 2″.  Place Fast Fuse Adhesive to the front left of the Kraft Bag and wrap the DSP around.  The seam will be hidden by the scallop circle and you will not have a seam on the backside.  Nice, huh?

Do you give gift cards at the holidays (even birthdays)?  How about a fun little packaging for them instead of just placing it inside of a boring card!  This is an old but tried and true technique using a medium envelope to create this fun gift card holder! Check this out!
