Leadership: Make & Takes

Logo 2

After our busy day on Friday (Day 2) we headed out to dinner to recharge before we headed back to the convention center for the first-ever Stampin’ Night Out–where Make & Takes were offered in an entirely different way.

043

042

Make & Takes were set at a leisurely pace, Stampin’ Up! superstars (from our excellent demonstrator training department!) provided Make & Take instructions and additional stamping projects from the stage–with the help of two big screens on either side of the presenter.

This was a Make & Take bag of supplies!  We got to choose either wood-mount or clear-mount stamp sets.

Here is a room shot of the Gathering Place where Make & Takes were held!

Leadership: Day 3

Logo 2

We started the morning a little later and were treated to a terrifically entertaining Stampin’ Up! version of NPR’s “Wait, Wait . . . Don’t Tell Me!” called, “Um, Um . . . I Knew That!” Panel guests Cori Hancock, Jill Leigh, and Bonnie Thurber each represented demonstrator teams and attempted to outdo one another in their quest to win prizes by correctly answering Stampin’ Up!-related questions. Let’s just say that emcees Brian Pilling and Chad Williams did not hold back–either themselves or the panel–and the results were hilarious.

To close out our Leadership 2014 experience we had a group dinner and closed our fun evening by walking through Discovery Park.

Leadership: Day 2

Logo 2

We began our second day of Leadership bright and early once again.  During the morning General Session, we listened to the keynote speaker, author Pat Pearson. As a professional business coach and licensed psychotherapist, Pat has spent many years sharing her expertise and helping others achieve success. She was very good and I really enjoyed what she had to say! After Pat’s fantastic presentation, we headed to lunch and then attended some breakout classes.

046

Here is our lunch that was served.  This was one of my favorite meals at a Stampin’ Up! event.

Leadership: Day 1 (Check-in Day)

Logo 2

We were up early on Thursday to head over to the convention center to receive the coveted Leadership bag and meet up with the rest of the group.   This is our Leadership bag that we received this year.  Love the tag on the inside!

Items that were inside the bag.

032

The session began by noting that leadership had no “theme” this year–and Shelli explained that this was intentional. Stampin’ Up! is simplifying and clarifying, and that extends to our event names–which we want to be simple and clear.

038

This is so funny, we took over the bathrooms!

036

Sara Douglass did a stamping presentation and introduced a new product line, Blendabilities, and said that it would be released early this year.  She also discussed the evolution of photopolymer; while once it did not meet Stampin’ Up!’s high standards, the quality of this product has vastly improved. In fact, by mid-year Stampin’ Up! will be manufacturing its own photopolymer sets in Kanab using the “best quality material [and the] best manufacturing processes and procedures.” Said Sara: “If you have never tried it-now is the time!” Sara also announced one more thing: by mid-year, photopolymer sets will begin to be packaged in our DVD-style cases.  This is our first all-attendee giveaway!

037

At the Gathering Place, we participated in a service project preparing birthday kits for children staying at the Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.  This is such a rewarding experience for me to be able to give back to the community and share what I love.

028

029

Walking back through the lobby of our hotel, we stopped to take out photo at the “welcome sign”!

031

030

Cindy and I headed out to dinner at a place called Sambuca.  They had a great jazz band playing and it was located in the historic Rice Hotel.

Okay, enough rambling for one day. Stay tuned. I will have day 1 and 2 for you in a few days. That’s where the real excitement begins!!

Leadership: Travel Day (Road Trip)

Logo 2

I thought for the next few days I would share with you my leadership highlights. I may warn you first though. I came with a pretty empty camera card and came back with it full. No kidding! I took so many pictures, its insane! So I am gonna try to not bore you but share as much as I can.

I arrived in Houston on Tuesday afternoon. I waiting in baggage claim to meet up with Cindy.  One of her bags from her Atlanta flight did not make it to Houston, so we waited in line to fill out paperwork and  then we hitched a shuttle ride over to the car rental lot and we were on our way to New Orleans!  It was a super long drive but worth it!

018

We woke up late on Wednesday and walked down Magazine Street/Decatur Street and had breakfast at Cafe Du Monde.  Yummy!!!  Here are a few photos from our walk to breakfast and places nearby (i.e., Mississippi River, Jackson Square, and Bourbon Street).

Before we left New Orleans, we had a wonderful lunch at Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar.

025

I had the Bayou Platter sampler of read beans, jambalaya, and etouffee.  Wow, I tried two things that were totally new to me and loved it!

Leadership: General Swap #2

Logo 2

I had some left over pieces from my demonstrator group’s shoebox swap and wanted to use them up.  Have you played with the Simply Pressed Clay and Molds?  I did find a trick to get them perfect!  All you have to do is put a small amount of clay into the mold and press down.  Place it in the freezer for 5-10 minutes and then pop it out.  Then I placed mine on wax paper and let them sit on my kitchen counter overnight before I handled them.  I hope that my little trick works for you the next time!

Since this year’s Leadership Conference is being held in Houston, TX, I thought it was very fitting to use this stamp set!  While the photo does not do this card justice, believe me, it is much prettier in person.  I am in love with this embossing folder as well as the other colors of the Core’dinations card stock ~ LOVE that paper!
